Late night art...

After my dinner date with the family, I couldn't sleep. I wasn't in the mood for poker either (I know strange things). So, instead I went into creative mode. I took apart one of my computer cases and began to paint. I also carved a fan shroud for the power supply. Here is a peak at it. So far I have 7 hours into this.

Hand carved fan cover. First time doing this with metal. Used a dremel tool for it (very messy).

Clear coated ghost flames on top and front of the pc.

The side cover still has some work to go on it.

Todays run...

I had to do my run a little earlier then normal. Going out with the wife and kids tonight. Tomorrow I will be pressed on time, we are house shopping.

  20. 12th .55
The roll for the challenge is at $42.83. Still headed in the right direction, and will be another day or two before moving up levels (provided there is no loss in the roll).

Today has been a very fruitful day in the poker department. Last night I made a nice sized cashout to cover the deposit on the new house. During the play this morning, I got lucky in a few mtts. I managed to increase my online roll by 32%. So for those "doomswitch" guys out there, "Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!" :)

Today, I also managed to pick up a contract with a company to handle all their logo design and graphics for their website. Pretty cool stuff.....

Here's today's art:

It was done with acrylics. There is something so mind numbing relaxing about doing stippling. The subject came from a cow skull with the head dress I have hanging here in my office.

Feeling better ....

Well yesterday I had my running shoes on all day. I did well in most everything I played. Made for a nice bounce back from being sick.
Here are the results from yesterdays challenge games.

  3. 14th -.25
  4. 29th -.25

  10. 11th .55
  11. 82nd -.25
  12. 56th -.25
  13. 2nd 4.16
  14. 12th .55
  15. 48th -.25

  18. 26th -.25
  19. 65th -.25
  20. 7th .95
This run brings the roll for the challenge up to $37.41. I am hoping today I can top off my 40x the buy-in to move up to the next level.

Today's art was done over coffee this a.m. I threw it together in photoshop.

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Well, I was sick as could be yesterday. No games got played. I decided to take my one day off. I feel a little better. We shall have to see how it goes.

This is a doodle I started on between sleeping.

Starting of week 2

To recap week 1. I have not been running the best lately. Been making the right decisions, I would say at a min of 9 of 10 times (trying to improve this though). I have gotten in good many times to go sailing down the river with many other folks. Sometimes that is a tough pill to swallow, but I can hold my head up high knowing I did the right thing.

In a weeks time I have multiplied the roll for the challenge by just over 3. I should be able to move up to the dollar level in a couple days at this rate (may the force be with me).

Last nights games:
  1. 13th -.25 (don't like starting out the session with a bubble)
  2. 26th -.25
  3. 9th .67
  4. 37th -.25
  5. 12th .55
  6. 71st -.25
  7. 60th -.25
  8. 5th 1.57
  9. 16th -.25
  10. 10th .55
  11. 39th -.25
  12. 58th -.25
  13. 63rd -.25
  14. 82 -.25 (got KK and obviously no one respects a button raise. Had 2 callers and a shover. Ended up in a 3 way pot losing to J6off )
  15. 2nd 4.16
Ending roll for the challenge is at 32.85. I ended up not playing the full 20. Got wrapped up deep in an mtt at AP that required full attention.

Todays art was done over coffee this a.m. It is a visual about how I felt when I just missed the final table in last nights mtt. The walk of shame down a "long road".

Another day...

At the grind. These $.25 90 man sngs are really such a grind. They beat you with the calls you see these folks making. It really is nuts. There is actually a % of the players that refuse to fold any 2 cards. It's funny when they lose and sickening when they hit. Then if you look at their stats it's even funnier.
Today was a rough day. I did manage to only pull off a loss of $.20, so no progress to speak of.
  1. 87th -.25 (rough start)
  2. 48th -.25
  3. 39th -.25 (getting closer :))
  4. 12th .55
  5. 19th -.25
  6. 27th -.25
  7. 71st -.25
  8. 65th -.25
  9. 33rd -.25 (started off strong, won first 4 hands and tripled up. Then went card dead.)
  10. 10th .55
  11. 26th -.25
  12. 21st -.25
  13. 5th 1.57
  14. 29th -.25
  15. 62nd -.25
  16. 4th 2.13
  17. 13th -.25 (I hate getting AA on the bubble while sitting in 13th short stacked).
  18. 15th -.25
  19. 36th -.25
  20. 47th -.25
After today's run the roll for the $29.10. Was some horrible beat downs, and some nice suck outs. I am just glad to only be down less then one buy in. Looking forward to advancing the roll to the next level though.

Today's art project:
The "ole lady" is wanting a new tattoo. I think this is what we are going to do this weekend.

Yesterday was nuts...

Yesterday was something else. I was knocked out early on in my live tourney. Made up for it in the cash games. My backer will be pleased.
Got home, and decided to play a couple nice sized tourneys. In one, about 2 hours in ran into a really bad beat. It crippled me down to 8x the bb. Some how, I managed to fight my way back into the hunt. I ended up running it down to 49th. Talk about a rush. I was pumped after that game.

To work off the tension of that tourney I decided to paint a skate board deck for my son (matching his hat).

Today is the day off....

The games for Saturday were as follows.
  1. 64th -.25
  2. 47th -.25
  3. 16th -.25
  4. 29th -.25
  5. 12th .55
  6. 19th -.25
  7. 58th -.25
  8. 31st -.25
  9. 10th .55
  10. 27th -.25
  11. 21st -.25
  12. 35th -.25
  13. 71st -.25
  14. 7th .95
  15. 52nd -.25
  16. 19th -.25
  17. 13th -.25
  18. 34th -.25
  19. 5th 1.57
  20. 46th -.25
I wasn't running that well. A lot of missed double draws. Seemed like the more outs I had the less likely I was to hit them. Was having issues getting big hands to hold. I did make a few huge lay downs that were good folds (proud of myself there).
After this run the roll for the challenge is at $29.30. I didn't make any head-way.

Here is the doodle I did between games.
Not super impressive, but I do enjoy working with inks though.

Today is casino day. There is a $200 buy-in hope I do well. It's been a couple weeks since I cashed. After, I think I will hit the Omaha tables. I did get a backer for today's play, so I want to do well to encourage future investments.

Art of poker.

I know poker is an art form in it's self. So, how about art during poker :)
I know, I know!!! Just another distraction. So for all you kids out there "Don't try this at home!"

Tonight I played in one tournament that seemed to go on forever. Did okay and made a decent take down (two thumbs up). During the game I decided to work on a test playing with the dimensions of a ball and the perspectives of faces. If you look close some of the lines of the cheeks and stuff in the faces are actually straight (but look curved for a fuller effect). It was a fun little project and now I have to go buy my son a new basketball :)

As a side note:
Yes, I forgot what year it was when I painted this.

Yesssssss

Today a major improvement.
  1. 3rd 3.15
  2. 1st 6.23
  3. 7th .95
  4. 17th -.25
  5. 10th .55
  6. 29th -.25
  7. 47th -.25
  8. 72nd -.25
  9. 9th .67
  10. 90th -.25 (yes i was the first one knocked out)
  11. 13th -.25
  12. 43rd -.25
  13. 58th -.25
  14. 41st -.25
  15. 14th -.25
  16. 11th .55
  17. 17th -.25
  18. 27th -.25
  19. 3rd 3.15
  20. 66th -.25
Today was a good day for the challenge games. Goff to a good start this morning and finished it off pretty decent. The roll for the challenge is now out $30.68.

A new day...A new light....

It's a new day and already things are off and running just fine. sitting on 3 final tables at once. I will post final results later on today.

I did a paint job for a friend last night. Just wanted to share it:

It's an xbox 360 controller I airbrushed for a friend. He should dig it!

What a day....

Today was something else. Just crazy! The bad beats came on in full effect. AA beat down by KK, I do believe a total of 4 times. 3 of the times kk hit turn and river for running straight. Just sickening.
Ok, with that said. I was running probably the worst that I had been running since I started playing. So I decide to go ahead and only run 10 of my challenge games. I didn't want this little losing streak to infect the brain too much. After I finished my games, I watched "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs with the kids". Pretty funny movie for a kids movie.

Heres the results from todays challenge games:
  1. 72nd -.25
  2. 32nd -.25
  3. 29th -.25
  4. 88th -.25
  5. 16th -.25
  6. 12th +.55
  7. 43rd -.25
  8. 61st -.25
  9. 10th +.55
  10. 23rd -.25
Took a little hit. The roll for the challenge is now at $20.98.
Tomorrow will have better results!(I hope :)

Here is a hat I painted up for my son today. Said he wanted a poker hat so this is what I came up with.

Day 3 of the challenge......

Today I maxed my game play on the challenge. I played my allowed 20 games. Here are the results.
  1. 87th -.25
  2. 53rd -.25
  3. 16th -.25
  4. 41st -.25
  5. 13th -.25
  6. 38th -.25
  7. 19th -.25
  8. 26th -.25
  9. 11th +.55
  10. 16th -.25
  11. 71st -.25
  12. 65th -.25
  13. 18th -.25
  14. 14th -.25
  15. 77th -.25
  16. 19th -.25
  17. 1st +6.23
  18. 14th -.25
  19. 28th -.25
  20. 67th -.25
I did not do as well today. Although, I did advance the roll for this challenge. Which is now at $24.88.

I am still amazed at the quality of play in these $.25 90man sngs. Just sickening the things they call down with. Today was bad beat day for me at this level. A lot of 4 card flushes and 4 card straights beat me down. With out looking at the stats, I would say I was good atleast 90% of the time when shoving. Just not a good day for luck. :)

With all that said, I did play well. I did advance the roll (a little). So, I am happy so far.

For those of you that wonder what I do in my spare time. Here is a sample:

I have named it "Metal in Creation". It took a total of 8 hours to paint in photoshop and painter.

Night 2

12 games run.
  1. 82nd -.25
  2. 23rd -.25
  3. 9th +.67
  4. 14th -.25
  5. 15th -.25
  6. 14th -.25
  7. 2nd +4.16
  8. 36th -.25
  9. 49th -.25
  10. 66th -.25
  11. 11th -.25
  12. 88th -.25 (dmn aces first hand cracked)
Tonight's run wasn't as good, obviously. Still cleared a profit though. The bankroll for the challenge is at $23.10. Starting tomorrow, I am going to start hitting my maximum allowed games per day (20).

Outside of that, I did really well in a few other mtts. Took 4th out of 5722 runners in a $5 buy-in. And was content with a 28th finish in another with over 5k in runners.
Yestardays run:
17 games towards the challenge.
  1. 18th -.25
  2. 14th -.25
  3. 43rd -.25
  4. 11th +.55
  5. 62nd -.25
  6. 3rd +3.15
  7. 12th +.55
  8. 15th -.25
  9. 21st -.25
  10. 1st +6.23
  11. 17th -.25
  12. 9th +.67
  13. 10th +.55
  14. 18th -.25
  15. 27th -.25
  16. 82nd -.25
  17. 5th +1.57
The first day out hand nice results. Doubled my bankroll for the challenge, which is now at $20.77. Not going to expect that kind of result everyday, but a good way to kick it off.

I don't care how many of these $.25 games I play. I think every game I am still amazed at how absolutely horrid the play is. This should be a really interesting challenge.

Pokerology

By the way.....
If you are not a member as of yet, and enjoy the banter of a forum environment. Then come join in the discussions at Pokerology. For the poker players out there, they have a great knowledge base both in their members and in the articles.

In the beginning....

Well to follow the tradition of others that are active in a forum that I participate in, I am starting one of my own for poker related things.

Last night the glove was dropped on another challenge. The wager that was made is as follows.
  • Take $10 and turn it into $200.
  • 30 days to complete the challenge.
  • No less then 10 games per day (for no less then 6 days a week), but no more then 20.
  • Start at the $.25 90man games.
  • Can not move up in levels till I have a min of 40x the buy-in.
  • Winner of the challenge gets the amount wagered plus any profits from the games.
Wish me luck and here we go.....................
